Why ORC created the Technology Treasure Trunk
In support of NCTM’s technology principle to enhance student learning using technology, ORC has compiled a set of mini-collections to showcase the use of technology in the teaching and learning of school mathematics. This was done in an effort to give classroom teachers easy access to lessons and other resources that can be used to incorporate technology as an integral part of instruction. Technology in this context can be used in myriad ways to facilitate mathematical discovery and promote the development of multiple connections between various representations. The selected lessons and resources invite students to use technology for mathematical explorations that foster the construction of mathematical knowledge using a variety of different mediums. If technology is used appropriately at all levels of instruction, students are better prepared to explore the challenges they will meet in technology-rich environments of the future.
