Mathematics: A Look at the OGT

About Mathematics: A Look at the OGT

Mathematics: A Look at the OGT provides classroom teachers, curriculum specialists, and other leaders in mathematics education with resources and information about using item-specific data from the OGT to change mathematics instruction and model professional discussion. Watch 30 to 40-minute webcasts that elaborate on an engaging and stimulating conversation about how to analyze test items and data from state and national tests to improve instructional practice. And take advantage of the mini-collections—small sets of ORC resources—created to support the articles and webcasts by providing additional examples and materials.

Archived Spring of 2008 series:

  • "Strategies and Discussion Model for Item Analysis" Explore the importance of students' knowing what vocabulary terms mean, knowing how to visualize three-dimensional figures, and understanding how to use that knowledge—in other words, the "implications" of having that knowledge.

  • "Ratio and Proportion Across the Standards—Focus on Multiple-Choice Items" An informative conversation about the assessment of proportional reasoning and thinking, with a focus on state and national multiple-choice assessments drawn from the content standards.

  • "Increasing Student Success on Constructed-Response Items" Explore students' results on Ohio Graduation Test extended-response items and suggest strategies for improving student achievement.

Mathematics: A Look at the OAT series is expected to begin in the Fall of 2008. Register for details.
