Prerequisites
This section details foundational knowledge required to complete this module.
Access to a classroom and to appropriate technologies is required. Participants
are expected to understand mathematics content and pedagogy and be
technologically literate.
The participant should demonstrate the following knowledge in mathematics
content and pedagogy:
- familiarity with the Ohio's Mathematics Academic Content Standards.
- understanding of how constructivism is implemented in a mathematics lesson.
- conceptual understanding of the mathematics content.
- experience teaching with graphing calculators is helpful but not mandatory.
- willingness to shift ownership of learning to students and to allow student
groups to work at their own pace.
- knowledge of and the ability to use Bloom's taxonomy to plan differentiated
instruction.
The participant should demonstrate the following technology skills:
- basic word processing.
- well-developed Internet navigation and research skills.
- familiarity with commonly used technologies.
- some experience with robots and programming is useful (either Logo or TI Basic)
but can be developed during or prior to instruction.
