PD Modules: Implement the Ideas in This Issue

AdLIT offers professional development modules that use selected articles from archived issues of Adolescent Literacy In Perspective to promote meaningful discussion around key literacy topics. The modules are designed to be used in two-hour sessions, which include time for teachers to read and discuss the articles. The following professional development modules complement the articles in this issue:

• For Jeff Anderson's "Stray from Conventional Wisdom: Show Writers How to Shape Writing with Grammar and Mechanics," select the PD module Stray from the Conventional Wisdom by Rhonda Gearhart and Carol Van Zalingen.
• For Teri Lesesne's "Making the Match: Engaging Reluctant Readers in YA Literature" and Alfred W. Tatum's " Motivating African American Boys to Read Text," use Knowing the Resources by Marlene Beierle.
• For "A Little Latin and ... a Lot of English," by Rick M. Newton and Evangeline Newton, choose Vocabulary by Linda Gore and Brenda Doyle.
• For Nancy Padak and Brigette McConnell's "Reaching Out to Our Struggling Readers," use Reaching and Teaching Our Struggling Readers by Christina Grissett and Sheila Dickson.
